system crashes with 2.5.5 Pro Since installing 2.5.5 Pro about a month ago, I've had regular program locks, system freeze-ups, and Blue Screen of Death problems when using LimeWire. I don't recall this happening under any prior version of LimeWire I've used (going back to 2.1.x, I think). There have been several BSOD error messages, but the most common is "fatal exception at 0028:D9A498E9. The problems have occurred both when I'm multi-tasking and when running only LimeWire. I'm running Win98SE on a PIII 500 w/ 256MB RAM and more than 3 gig available on my hard drive. Any ideas? |
hmmmmm..... Never had a single crash / freeze / problem with 2.5.5 Pro! In my experience... I feel LimeWire has become one of the most stable clients out there! :D |
I'm running XP and I cannot seem to complete more than a small download without a complete system crash. I'm getting the following from my Dell Inspiron 7500: Stop: 0X0000008E (0X0000005, 0XF83D8AEJ, 0F6CE2738, 0X00000000) ***Net Mot CM.sys-Address F83D8AE5 base at F83D8000. DateStamp 3bb08bba Then it runs through a memory dump, which I'm afraid to stop since I don't know what it's doing. I'm assuming this is a UNIX code, of which I'm ignorant. This does not happen unless I'm connected to the gnutella network. I'm fine using all sorts of programs and all else over the net. It has happened a couple of times when I'm away from my computer, but not once since I power off my cable modem after leaving the net (so I'm not connected anymore to the gnutella network.) I used to leave it on all of the time. Any clues, programmers? BTW, I'm using IE 6.0 with Optimum Online cable. Thanx. Linda |
No specific help - but have you run a virus checker over your system recently? This does not look like a specifically LimeWire problem - the Stop does not mention any of the LimeWire components. It seems to suggest that the fault lies in CM.sys - whatever that is (which is why I suggest a virus-checker). CM.sys could be a perfectly legitimate part of your cable modem drivers - in which case your drivers are either corrupt or need updating to a working version. Mark |
