LimeWire 2.7.3 a CPU hog??

I usually run LimeWire on a computer with a 700MHz cpu. Up until I upgraded to 2.7.3 (from 2.6.5, I think) I've noticed that LimeWire gets REALLY bogged down CPU wise. Spikes, sure, but then periods of 5+ seconds of LimeWire being frozen, clicks do nothing, CPU at 100% and then LimeWire "catches up" and CPU goes down to normal (1-5%).

Anybody else see this?? Is this normal? I wouldn't have thought 700MHz was "too slow" to run an app like this.. but I dunno!

Interestingly enough, I had one file that was "downloading from 5 hosts" at a nice steady pace of 0k. I killed that download .. and now CPU usage is back in the totally-normal range.

A bug perhaps?

Same here

After two days of running 2.7.3 Pro, it ate up almost all CPU resource. GUI response was terrible (throughout the OS)

Exiting Limewire solved the problem (after a while) mem slowly dropped from 35 MB downto 30 and after that it was almost instantly removed from the task list.

Btw. did previous Limewire versions also take up this much mem? It's using 28.5 MB right now :-(
And it's running as a leaf...

Either that, or the download was almost complete and LimeWire started calculating its SHA-1 hash, to add it to LimeWire's shared files.

No, I have been having the exact same issues, both under 2.6.5 and 2.7.3 (Pro). I'm running OS X 10.1.5 on a dual G4/450 with 768MB of RAM. This system bogs down the same way, taking five seconds to show what I'm switching to, refresh the screen, etc.

It may be something to do with the Java 2 implementation on OS X, but as the original poster didn't say which exact Win OS he's using, hard to tell. All I know is, I've been using 2.7.3 Pro for three days now, and last night, the slow down started, and has not gotten any better after a full system reboot and a cache clearing...

Addendum: I, too, am having the 0K problem on some connections, and it'll happen in the middle of a download, and you can't force a RESUME, and if you KILL the download, you're starting over from scratch, even if you go to your library and RESUME the incomplete file. This is getting ridiculous, I've paid, and I'm thinking it's time to give Acquisition and Shareaza a try...

Each version is worse than the last!

My machine has 800mhz processor and a gig of ram. Lamewire manages to run it self into the ground everytime.

This should be about file sharing not debugging- thumbs down on QA and Dev.

And as long as I am bitching... the install is lousy too. I expected it to clean up its old directories, delete icons, find the previous paths... 'fraid not. I guess commercial only means they get money... where is the Quality?

2.7.3 is a CPU hog

I'm running Win2K, 1.3 GHz, 768MB RAM, and now that I've "up"-graded to 2.7.3, LimeWire hogs all my CPU for at least 10 seconds. Eventually everything unfreezes, but it always happens again and again and again and again... This is regardless of whether I'm downloading. I don't have to reboot or anything that dramatic but it's really freaking annoying!!

They should play...

Yes, songs in your playlist should play when you hit the > button on the LimeWire MP3 Player.

I would suggest you go to Tools>Options>Player and make sure the box "Use LimeWire MP3 Player" is checked off.

Hope this helps.
