Question Too many files?

I’ve been using limewire on Windows 2000 for a few months and everything has been fine. Today I copied some large .mpg files into my share directory and the cpu went off the chart when I hit the refress button. Now the problem persists even though I removed the files and uninstalled and reinstalled limewire (ver 2.7.3) a dozen times.

I tried the Troubleshooting FAQ 2-16 fix since it was javaw.exe that was chewing up 30% of the cpu. Lowering the priority didn’t help.

Also my shared files directory will only show 25 files being shared whey there are over 70 files in the directory. Has anyone else seen this?

Question

I've done some additional testing and the slowdown is caused by the size of the files. Large files coppied into my share directory are causing the slowdown.

One thing I did do is install the Java runtime enviorment SE v1.4.1_01 because I need to be able to use MS java to access some of my corporate intranet with MS java (go figure). But as an experiment I tried using the earlier sun java that gets installed with a clean Limewire install and the problem still occurs.

any help is appreciated!

Angry

I was just looking in the beta section and I also thought that 2.7 was a required upgrade. I'm running v2.3.7 and didn't have this problem until I installed this version.

Is there any way I can get an earlier version?
