XP Restarts I know this has been written about before, but has anyone finally got to the bottom of the reason why Windows XP just restarts itself when you are running a P2P programme? It happens to me whenever I use either Limewire or Bearshare (both registered versions), between five minutes and 90 minutes after starting either up. (Bearshare suffers most.) I am quite sure I have everything up to date and I have changed my firewall and tried switching eveything off to try and solve the problem but to no good effect. It is totally maddening to me as I'm sure it is for anyone trying to download anything from me. I really want to share my files (and I've over 7000 and still adding to the list), but I feel like preventing people from having access so no one wastes their time getting half a file. Any thoughs anyone? "The secret of happiness is not to be able to get what you want but to be happy with what you have got." |

Reply Very sad, writing a reply to myself... Anyway, I have solved the problem myself. The clue was in the following: Microsoft Knowledge Base Article - 316416. If anyone is interested, it can be found at: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;316416 The solution was to install new drivers for my modem. The End |
