Hello:

I am running XP and had some issues similar to yours. Here are a couple things you might try -

Open Java from control panel. Select the browser tab and if either Netscape or IE are checked uncheck them. Reboot and try this setup.

If that doesn't work you might have success with an earlier version of Java. I switched to 1.3.1_04
