TRY THE INTERNATIONAL VERSION!!!!! I DID IT AND I DIDNT HAVE ANY PROBLEMS WITH ERROR MESSAGES SAYING THE OLD VERSION COULDNT BE UNINSTALLED LIKE I DID BEFORE WITH THE NORMAL VERSION...
I DONT KNOW WHAT IT IS ABOUT THE INTERNATIONAL VERSION THAT MAKES IT WORK...BUT IT WORKED FRO ME.
I TRIED EVERYTHING TO TRY TO GET THE OLDER VERSIONS OFF MY SYSTEM BEFORE, EVEN HACKING INTO THE REGISTRY,WHEN I THOUGHT I HAD IT ALL OFF MY SYSTEM I TRIED TO INSTALL THE LASTEST VERSION OF LIMEWIRE,AND ALL I GOT WAS ERRORS,SAYING THE OLDER VERSION COULDNT BE DELETED!!!
BUT AFTER I STUMBLED ACROSS A POST TALKING ABOUT THE INTERNATIONAL VERSION WORKS WITH NO PROBLEMS,I FIGURED WHAT THE HELL, I DIDNT HAVE ANYTHING TO LOSE !!!
IT WORKED AND WITH NO ERRORS!!!!!GIVE IT A TRY!!!!

If you already started messing with the registry the only way of removing all traces of the old version is to continue messing with it since the Windows uninstallers will not work anymore.

LimeWire offers a WindowsNOVM version as a zip somewhere on his download page (it's hidden behind a link for additional installers). It should run directly after unpacking it if you execute the .bat file.
