LimeWire 1.5 Install error message

I can't get LimeWire 1.5 to install on Windows 2000 (sp2). Limewire itself seems to install correctly, but the installation of Java Runtime Environment 1.3.1 gives this error message:

Can't run 16-but Windows program

"Cannot find file E:\WINNT\Temp\pft2C2~tmp\disk1\SETUP.EXE (or one of its components). Check to ensure the path and filename are correct and that all required libaries are available."

I also downloaded the j2re-1_3_1-win installer itself from Sun with the same error. The MS Knowledgebase did not help me either.

Does anyone know what I can do to fix this so Java RE 1.3.1 will install?

TIA

Brent

I don't know how to fix the problem, but I can offer some insight into what the problem is. Your error message is referring to the FAT16 used in windows95. That stands for file allocation table if you didn't know. But anyhow, windows2000 does not support that file format, is not compatible with anything based on the specific file system. The only thing I can suggest is to maybe do a google search containing FAT32 and java. Oh, btw, FAT32 is what windows98 uses, and is compatible with win2000.

I'm running NTFS on the Win2k partition. Could that filesystem cause the JRE to not install? I'm still at a loss.

well I was reading that jre is not compatible with NT, so that may just be the problem. I saw a newer version, jre1.1.8_008, maybe you would want to try that one.

Actually 1.3.1 would be newer than 1.1.8, but I figure I would be in the same boat anyhow. Hopefully a Limewire developer reads this thread and responds.
