Angry Limewire 3.x Blue Screen of Death

Limewire was working perfectly fine, up until around 2.8-ish or so. Then I got a notice that 3.1 was available, so I downloaded it. Big mistake. Now, everytime I try to close Limewire, I get a BSOD. Versions 3.2 and 3.2.1 both have the same problem. I tried upgrading from Java 1.4.1_01 to 1.4.2, no joy there either.

Limewire also seems to pause inexplicably at times, and I've noticed that the buttons eventually corrupt after it has run for a while.

It appears to be something to do with it interfering with the video driver. My system is 100% stable otherwise, I can play games, including BF1942, Wolfenstien ET, and America's Army, all with no problems, and have never had a blue screen on this system prior to this. I have the most recent driver version available.

The exact BSOD message is PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA, STOP 0x00000050, parameters e387e950, 0000000, bfa6f793, 00000001, occuring in ati3d2ag.dll.

I'm running Windows XP Pro SP1a, with Java 1.4.2, and DirectX 9.0a. The machine is a Dell Inspiron 8200 with a P4-M 2.0GHz, 512 Megs of RAM, and a 64 Meg Radeon Mobility 9000.

This problem is 100% reproducable on this machine, it happens every time I close Limewire.

I'm pretty sure that Limewire still uses Java 1.3. That could be your problem. However, someone ought to corroborate my opinion before you do anything.

Blackbird,

I believe you are correct.

I am running Windows XP Pro and Limewire Pro 3.2.1. I use Java 1.3.1_04. I have used that Java version "forever" with Limewire. Way back when I updated my Java the problems started. I rolled back to 1.3.1_04 and everything works well.
