NEWDOTNET.dll Win illegal operation fix! -- This idea has now been confirmed... This is for the illegal operation when LimeWire causes an invalid page fault in NEWDOTNET2_109.dll. (Mainly on Win ME, I haven't seen on other OS', but it would work there, too.) Newdotnet, or new.net, rather, is a spyware program installed by Bearshare, and lots of others, as it is quite popular. To get rid of it safely, including the dll, get ad-aware. Some thing that isn't there can't cause problems. As an added bonus, you'll get all the other spyware on your system off, too. Also, this will work on most of the illegal operations, not just the NEWDOTNET2_109.dll one. Kirby P.S.=It will take two passes on ad-aware to get all the components off. |
Kirby and Christopher.... YOU GUYS ARE STUDS! I was getting booted from LimeWire every 5 minutes like everyone else on this thread. I took your advice and uninstalled BearShare...then went into Add/Delete programs in Windows Control Panel and deleted the NEWDOTNET program. Been running Limewire for 30 minutes now...NO MORE ERROR MESSAGES. I didnt even have to use ad-aware...but thanx for that info too.thanx again. |
Thanks! Thanks so much for your post! After uninstalling new.net and then running ad-aware, we're no longer having problems with invalid page fault errors. |

worldnet.att and adaware? hi there! i was having this problem with new.net as well and limewire has been crashing. i would like to install and run adaware and remove any additional spyware programs but am afraid this will kill my internet connection. right now at & t worldnet's $7/month program comes with some built in tracking software. i would like to remove additional software while leaving the required components in place. has anyone else tried to do this so far? the errors i have been getting include: "limewire has caused an error in JAVAI.DLL" "explorer has caused an error in KERNEL32.DLL" "wnconnect has caused an error in KERNEL32.DLL" "wnconnect has caused an error in MFC42.DLL" plus a bunch of "limeire has caused an error in <unknown>" and limewire crashes. thanks for any assistance! i am currently running Windows ME and limewire 1.4. |
Re: worldnet.att and adaware? -- I was suggesting ad-aware as it also got all the other spyware off. In your case, you should use Windows add/remove instead. Kirby |
Adware solves the problem, good fix and thanks to Kirby Limewire is working better than ever. |
;o) THANK YOU! |

Re: Re: Re: still haveing trouble with page faults -- To link directly to the 1.6 page, go here. That should work. Kirby |
Kirby, Thanks for everything. there was no reply from support staff, but your suggestions with ad-aware and then your posting the only site from which I could download limewire again were perfect solutions. i hope they contact you and offer you large money. Steve |
AD AWARE 5.5 HEY KIRBY, SOMETIMES I THINK I'M A REAL DUMMY !! WHILE CRUISING AROUND ZDNET, I FOUND OUT THAT I WAS RUNNING A OUTDATED VER OF AD AWARE.. I DOWNLOADED AND RAN VER 5.5 AND WAH LA,,, PROBLEM FIXED (5.5 FOUND 22 MORE SPYWARE FILES THAN 4.6) I ALSO WENT UP TO LIMEWIRE 1.6 AND LIKE IT.... THANKS FOR THE FIX !!!!!!!!!! ROBBIE1K |
ok... it sounds like everyone has got their problem solved but me. I'm using LimeWire v1.6, I've run and deleted all ad ware stuff with ad-aware 5.5, but I still can't get a connection! I used to use BearShare v2.2.4 with no problem. I upgraded to BS v2.2.6, then LimeWire 1.6, and neither one works! What went wrong? Help!!! Thanks. -Leo |
     :confused:I don't have newdotnet, and limewire still crashes on me. I tried this adware thing, and it didn't do anything. Can someone help me out? |
Ad-Ware did the trick two passes and the illegal op message did not return. It turns out tha t the program "comet Cursor was rhe culprit and had embedded some 137 spies. Upon removal everthing went fine. nl |
I found 150 spy thingys. I think thats a little bad and sad. |
One more thing. Why does lime wire have to be purple?!?!? I HATE PURPLE!!  |
I have this newdotnet also as well as comet cursor.Where did I get it? I chat on a game site, will removing new.net interfere with that? Also does anyone know how to get rid of Netsetter. It's supposed to make your connection faster but I hate it.(it doesn't,that I see)Also, recently I'm unable to use IE to access hotmail, could new.net be the reason.I just installed LimeWire. How do you d/l a specific file? |
Does Not Fix My Problem - Any Help Is Appreciated I've been using Limewire V1.6b for a while now and have not had a problem with it until yesterday. At that point whenever I activate the application it will only stay up for about a minute (or less) and then just goes away. I am running Windows 2000 Professional (SR2). I have run Ad-aware 5.5 to remove any spyware, but that has not worked. I've also uninstalled limewire and reinstalled, but the problem still exists. Please note that I do not receive any errors when this happens. Any insight? Thanks, Garro |
