Ordering search results

I know that by clicking on column headings I can change the order of the search results (indicated by either an up or down arrow in the column header).

But.... how do I cancel ordering on a column (without selecting ordering another column).

Each click on the column header changes the order of the search (ascending / descending). Sometimes though, I have noticed that if I let the mouse cursor linger after clicking, the ordering arrow disappears - this is what I want! But what is the method, I'm sure it's not just random!!

This has been bugging me for months, so any help VERY much appreciated!!

Thanks, Dave.

Hi Dave,

LimeWire 3.7 (currently in beta, can be found by clicking on the 'beta' link on the download page) allows you to instruct the program to not sort the search results automatically. This is accomplished by right-clicking on the column headers, choosing 'More Options', and unchecking 'Sort Automatically'.

The seemingly random behaviour you're experiencing can be described as follows ... If you haven't clicked anywhere (or clicked to sort by #, ascending), LimeWire will automatically resort when a newer result comes in. If you have clicked elsewhere, then LimeWire will not sort the results and will instead clear the sort status when a newer result comes in.

Note that 3.7 also keeps your selection (and scrolls to make it visible, if the sorting had moved it off the screen) when newer results come in, which is very useful in the first few moments after a search has been performed.

Thanks.

Thanks sberlin !

Have downloaded the current beta... 'problem' solved!

Thanks for the info, especially describing the 'randomness' I thought I was experiencing.

Seeing the search progress bar on the search tabs is a nice touch in the beta by the way. What other changes have been made (is there a changes doc anywhere?)

Thanks!

Dave.

Hi Dave,

Changelogs are generally posted in the "LimeWire Beta Program" link, as the most recent 'sticky' post -- in this case, "LimeWire 3.7.1 Beta". We're on 3.7.3 now (I'll see about getting some changelogs for 3.7.2 and 3.7.3 changelogs). A link to the log is http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=22934 .

Glad you like the progress bar for the search tabs. One oft-requested feature was some sort of progress indication of how far the search was progressing. In the past, there really was no measure of progress, but we recently re-architected the search structure and it became possible to measure how far along the search was. There wasn't much screen ************ left to add a progressbar, especially because there needed to be a seperate one for each search. The tab seemed to be a good place for it, and as far as I know is completely unique (meaning that no other program has used it). I imagine if people like it, we'll start seeing other programs with it. ;)
