Does this problem occur only with LimeWire ?
What else do you have running at the same time as LimeWire ?
(This would include anything else that launches on XP start-up.)

running apps

I have the followung apps that run on startup:
NAV 2004
Windows Messenger
Verizon Online DSL
Norton Password Manager
Creative Taskbar
Norton Ghost 2002

Thats all. And this error has only happened with Limewire.

your advice is greatly appreciated.

Hmmm ???

From what you show for other apps running, and the specs on your machine (assuming there are no 'recognition' problems with your RAM), whatever is causing this is probably not part of the normal litany of troubleshooting stages...

But, there is something, perhaps minor and maybe of no import...

You said... "EVERY time I launch Limewire 3.8.7 and connect up to the network..."

Maybe I read that the wrong way, but are you possibly allowing LimeWire to launch, either with all of the other apps you name above, and/or (more importantly) before your internet connection is really stable and all of those other apps have 'cleared' their business... ?

I have seen XP go down that way with several p2p apps causing lockups after failing to connect.

No...

I took it out of the startup group and launch it manually. It can stay in my taskbar and all is fine until I CONNECT to the network to share files. That's when it takes a dump after a few minutes.

Perhaps having a look here...

... might help ?

It got worse...

I tried what the link said and removed the Java runtimes and reinstalled them from the Sun site. Now it only connects for about 10 seconds before hard rebooting me.

I *did* try an experiment and found that if I boot in Safe Mode I can run Limewire Pro 3.8.7 without this glitch. Any of you think that it may be a device driver on my system causing it? If there is a Limewire developer tuned into this thread please chime in if there are any issues along these lines that I might want to troubleshoot.

This has become quite frustrating!

I keep thinking back to the 10 mins and then zapppp...

I see you are running NAV 2004...
Assume that it is with up to date definitions...
BUT, this sure does sound like some of the viruses that popped up last August...

I have hesitated to recommend a check on the updates and a scan, but.......

?
