Correction

It crashed/s YOUR pc, not mine/the general users's.

I run Limewire 24/7 and not once has the newest build crashed my system.

I also run Netlimiter 24/7 because Limewires bandwith limitation abilities SUCK...that is the only thing not so great about Limewire...everything else kicks ***!

Why don't you just stop useing LW for now if you are so unsatisfied with it? OR if you really want help, you could try telling us more then "it crashed my PC".

My general advice:
Get the latest version of LW. Get the latest version of Java. Make sure your computer is configured properly to run LW (firewall settings and whatnot). If that does not help please post a specific problem. Good luck.

what to use

You can try Bearshare until you get Limewire's problems sorted out.

Everyone that has it crash their pc post these specs:

What version of Java are you running?
What version of Limewire? (Help/About)
Version of Windows?
What do you do before it crashes?
What software is running when using Limewire (lower right of screen icons)?
What did you install most recently?
What is the last version of Limewire that still works? (www.oldversion.com for old versions)
How much RAM do you have?
Hard Disk capacity? Free space?
What security software (antivirus/firewall/etc) is running?
Have you checked your computer for viruses using up to date trustable (Mcafee/Norton ETrust/etc) antivirus software?
(and please do not post opinions about any software you like or dislike event if you believe one is better than the other)

Thankyou for the time you spent answering all those questions and I hope to see replies.

i personally am running windows 2000 professional, and have tried every version of limewire i can get my hands on.

tried changing java versions, tried closing and/or uninstalling all programs that could possibly interfere and cause problems.

i still get the same error.

its not 'after 30 minutes' on my computer i havent picked up any pattern at all

it crashes to blue screen...with messages similar to (not identical every time)

***STOP: 0x00000D1 (0x00000152, 0x000000002, 0x000000000)
DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
***Address BFED3C10 base at BFEc9000, DateStamp 3eaf051d-NDIS.sys
Bedinning dump of physical memory

im not sure if seeing that ^ will help at all, but it would be awesome if someone could point out what could be causing this.

if anyone thinks they can help, or need more info to help, ill be on aim...SN = Chiz511

My computer also crashes everytime I run Limewire (not necessarily always after exact 30').

I run the latest java version (1.4), windows xp with the latest updates, 512 ram AMD athlon 2700+, plenty of free hard drive space and Limewire pro 4.0.7, ZoneAlarm and nod32 antivirus.
Limewire works for some time and then, out of the blue..... it crashes everything!

The computer only crashes when Limewire is on - when off everything works faultlessly (even for more than 24 hrs. non stop)

Conclusion: IT IS LIMEWIRE!! It doesn't matter what some may claim, the new version obviously has a bug. Some users like me are just unlucky to experience it!

Please read this if you have installed ZoneAlarm
