what is javaw.exe?

i am using limewire1.5 and it is working great!i got it to work and decided to stay with it instead of downloading the new versions. anyway, i am curious, before i got 1.5, i was using 1.4 and i got through the mess with 1.5 and the javaw.exe problem, but now, my zone alarm informs me that the program- javaw.exe is trying to get into my computer via an open port. this never happened with 1.4 and i want to know just what does this javaw.exe do?? why does it want to get into my computer?? why do we need to have it?
any information about this would be appreaciated

Java is the programme language limewire is written in.
Limewire runs in a Java enviroment, so therefore zonealarm asks if Javajaw.exe can have server rights, if you deny it to have access, limewire won't connect.

javaw.exe

javaw.exe starts a java program(i.e. starts the jvm) without opening a console window. If they'd used java.exe, the console window would have remained open.
