auto shutdown...

kay... ive downloaded... redownloaded and removed and downloaded every version over and over again... and everytime... the download says its successful... but when i go to start lime... the program starts up... then like three seconds later disapears from the screen... it doesnt even give me time to click on the "later" button when the "why go pro" box appears... every other program i ve installed runs just fine... and i am using windows XP version with DSL and the latest version of JAVA... so im thinking either there is a problem with the compatibility in the systems somewhere... or theres a problem with the program itself... i would consider buying the pro version... but if i cant even try the basic to see how i like it... then i dont want to be comitted to purchasing it... ive tryed using the forums to see if i can find anything on how to fix the problem... but there was no help there... so if you have any suggestions that would be great... thanks for you time... and help...

Hahaha what do u mean u tried the forums, did u search them 4 your problem? U post several threads with the identical question which is totally unnecessary & a waste of server space. Perhaps if you posted back a few details of your LW version, connection type, + other details & how u tried to optimise your system for dwnlding and also look at this: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=27036

These are vital links to solving your problem so take particular note of ALL of them.

sorry...

still not much help... but thanks...

Lord of the Rings August 14th, 2004 05:57 PM

Sorry daduh if I wasn't of much help. I'm sure you checked out ALL the hidden links in my post (joke!) May I suggest you post in the following thread: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...&pagenumber=13

As yoru friends' success suggests, it's something more specific to your sys & setup which of course makes it that more difficult. B/cause each partcular comp can gave its own specific issues despite being (basically) identical to the one potentially sittting next ty it.

If it's not a Java issue , then it sounds like a severe installation problem. Sometimes U need to delete the entire instalation which windows uninstall dowsn't always do properly.

ie: make sure U delete LW properly if you're having probs with it. Then try re-installing it/previous version if U have 1 backed up.

kay...

seriously.. ive tried it all... and i mean... ALLL... java... firewalls... uninstalling (completely) and reinstalling... different versions (they all react the same)... i am not a computer genius... but i m also not computer illiterate... i have no problems with any other programs... just this one... and it seems like its more trouble than anything else to get it working... so at this point... im over it... there are other programs out there that do the same thing... i just thought id try it out since i know a couple people who use it and are happy... it just doesnt seem to work for me... so moving on... but thank you for all your help

So why don't you try out the beta or an ealier version. Sure there's other p2p apps out there, but once you can taste success with LW, you'll never look back. Sometimes some versions don't suit the particular system, but other versions will. That's what I've learnt since I've been on the forum.

still no luck

Sorry again But look at Take a look at this person's probs: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=27384
He took some chances & it paid !

I think that shows how particular versions work/ work better on some people's systems than others.
