WinXP Multi-user problem

Sup !

I want to share limewire for all user of my computer

It's working only for my user but if I switch to another user and try to open limewire, the program tells me to install the program again...

Is there an option I can check to share this program with any user of my computer ???

Thanks

Just sign on the other account and install LW there. Good luck.

Win XP non privileged users

I have set up WinXP with a single administrator account and multiple user accounts (non-privileged) for all family members. Throwbacks to my VMS and Unix days as providing a more tamper proof system.

Lime Wire is installed in the privileged account. If I try the previous reply's solution, the installer says the user account is non-privileged (which I already know!) and to set the account to privileged - rather defeats the purpose.

Is there a way to get Lime Wire to run for non-privileged accounts?

thanks and regards,
Michael Watts.

Do you have a all users account on your comp. If so then you should be able to install it there. I mean installing it and then moving the Limewire folder from the programfolder to the all users folder

Also You can change the rules for the different accounts, then install the program and change it back, or not ?

I have 3 XP Profiles - ALL with ADMIN priviledges.

Had the same issue, installed on one profile, went to install it on another profile, and it prompted for a new install.

I thought GREAT - would prefer separate libraries for each profile, but it installed fine on the other profile - but stopped the orig profile from working?!

Might try to copy across the LW fodlers to the new profile and try from there.

<Also get the error each time I start it now - "could not create registry key" Might try a uninstall / reg clean / re-install>

I had LW installed on this computer previously and have since had a crash. All users were able to use LW prior to the crash. I don't remember doing anything special to make that happen.

So - my question about this particular solution:

Which folder?

C:/Documents and Settings/All Users/Application Data/LimeWire?

Will this work - to just move it there?

Thanks much.

The only way to find out is to try. I'm guessing that the worse that can happen is that you have to delete them again. It is possible for sure somehow. I'm just not sure if this will take some advanced registry editing as well (which BTW goes way over my capabilities).

I just tried to have a look at the registry looking for limewire, but couldn't even find a folder called Limewire.

Thanks for taking the time to respond. I'll give it a try and see what happens. Prob not until tomorrow, tho.

If successful, I will post info.
