Installing in win2k

I'm having problems installing in win2k. The installer app seems to finish installing however, whenever I launch the app, the splash screen displays and that's it. It just sits there....for awhile....doing nothing.....that I can tell anyway. Is this a known issue with win2k?

I am also having troubles installing limewire under windows 2000. The installer seems to finish, but it does not create any icons from which to execute the program.

So, I tried executing it manually from the jar file i assumed to contain the main program - limewire.jar. I used the command java -jar limewire.jar to no avail - I got the message "Main-Class" not found (something like that) - I then discovered that this could be a problem with jar's created through jre1.1 - which means that the jar is incompatible with my jre1.3.

So, is there a way for me to execute limewire under windows2000, with jre1.3?

Oh, i think i should also the version of limeware i am using .. it's limeware1.4b, from the zip file LimeWireOther.zip

I installed using the command:
java -classpath limeware.jar install
(which worked properly - sortof - except for the icons)

Oh, and one last peculiarity that i should have mentioned earlier:

* following the installation process, the empty directory tree null > limewire, remains in the directory from which i installed the program ..

This could indicate an incomplete installation, perhaps?

Finally, after perusing through some more messages in this forum, i discovered the solution.

After installing the program (limewireother.zip) with the commmand:
java -cp limewireother.zip install,

One must simply type the command:
javaw -cp LimeWire.jar;collections.jar;swing.jar a.a.a.b.Main limewire.props

The program looks great! But, i would still like to see an icon on my desktop =) Great job.

Glad to hear that everyone cleared up the problems they were having. Apologies for the complications.

I just wanted to point everyone to a post I just made replying to the charming "LameWire ain't working" message thread. There I describe the pending release of a new installer that will address these various issues.
