Error loading Limewire

Okay, I've not used Limewire for sometime, just happens I needed it recently.

When I loaded Limewire I got the update to Pro window but problem was it was blank, only the tab worked. When I closed it I got the usual Limewire window, problem again was that it too was blank like it had not finished loading and never did.

No problem I thought, it's been awhile, needs an update, hence that's what we did.

Apon loading Limewire I get a small error box, once again nothing in it. I close the error box and get a Java runtime Box, again, nothing in it. I close the Runtime box and get the error box again, close the error box get the runtime box... you get the picture.

No idea what is going on it's like nothing is loading, I can read the window tabs just nothing in displayed in them.

Any idea's what is going on?

Cheers.

Some Screenshots for you.

Basically loops between the 2 windows, when you close one, you get the other, as you can see, blank.

Nice desktop pic! Update to the most recent Java: http://www.java.com/en/download/windows_automatic.jsp Can you give us some more details. What have you done to your comp since last time you used LW? OS updates? Security patches? How much ram do you have?
If still probs after updating java, then delete your LW prefs. LW Prefs are/should be in a folder called '.limewire' note the dot in front. For me they're in Documents and Settings/User Name.

Done the Java updates, update them often anyway as they are needed for internet banking, updated again anyway just to make sure.

Like I said, it's been a long time since I used it so we are talking months of windows updates, I installed SP2, had issues with numerous programs which resulted in uninstalling it, have always had XP though.

Have 1.25 odd Gig of Ram

I have completly uninstalled Limewire, tried the latest version and the Beta version with the same issue.

I'll try deleting the prefs file but when it's a clean install and I've not been able to open it at all I doubt it will help, but worth a try anyway.

Btw, if you like that check out www.artofgregmartin.com the guy is brilliant.

Well, my thx for the help, all appears to be working well.

Basically, I uninstalled Java and Limewire, reinstalled them both, still did not work, same problem, actually crashed my computer a couple times.

Though stuff it, might as well reinstall SP2.

With SP2 reinstalled all works fine, hopefully there are fixes around for the trouble I had with it to begin with.

Cheers.
