![]() I have windows XP, windows media player 10 and cannot play WMV files, it will show a funny looking clock telling me to buy MP3 player, kinda like a ad. how can I play these files,I have no problem with avi, mpg, mpeg, mov, please help me! |

![]() Yeah--those are ads or something. Some spammer (or worse) has been flooding the network with those files. No matter what you type in the search box, you'll get about 30 or more of those .wmv or .jpg files. Learn to recognize and ignore them (size matters). |

![]() ok, if WMV files are spam or something , why are there other people downloading it, (30-50) and jpg, jpeg files are pictures on my computer, not video,I know you can purchase movies from widows movie player to watch on windows movie player are these those files and they are blocked? |

![]() Not all wmv files are fakes or corrupted with links. But since wmv files seem to offer that capability, it seems to be an easy medium for pranksters, marketers, etc to use. If you're only using wmv files to view on your comp, fine. But if you desired to keep movies for burning to disk, better to seek out mpeg & avi files which are 300+MB in size (better b/w 6-700 MB.) As for the spam jpgs, wmv files, well many people dwnld them by mistake into their shared folders & don't check them for quite some time. Also see Quality of Content on the Network Personally I filter out jpg, exe & wmv using keyword filters. I remove the filters temporarily if I'm looking for something in that particular format. |
