No comments re: the 'bug' in LimeWire, but be assured with the fact that the vast majority of people on this planet who are using computers do NOT have Windows XP installed as their Operating System. And, thanks for posting on your discovery of the right-click function... It will undoubtedly help some others ! ;) |
Running Limeware 4.0.8 under Win2k compatibility mode seems to have done the trick. The really strange part is that I've been running Limeware for nearly two months since I upgraded to XP2. Last week sometime was when I first started noticing that I couldn't start the program. If I uninstalled it then reinstalled it (not just a "repair") it would run once. After exiting the program and attempting to run it again, Windows display the unhandled application error dialog box. I wonder if XP 2 and the JRE aren't cooperating? |
Idiots At Limewire Still Don't Get It Apparently the idiots at Limewire still don't get it. I just downloaded Limewire Pro 4.2.2 and had to set compatability mode again to Windows 2000. Haven't them fools been able to figure out the bug yet? I have version 1.5.0 of Java. |
roybjr -- Unfortunately you're the only person (except Fiend, above) who has reported this problem to us. We're not able to reproduce it, and hundreds of thousands of people have succesfully ran LimeWire with XP & SP2. We've made dozens of changes in order to address XP/SP2 specifically, in the hopes that rare problems like this will be resolved, but until we're able to reproduce it consistently (in a controlled environment), there is no guarantee we can fix it. Because this problem appeared out of the blue, it is very likely another program that was installed on the computer around that time caused something to go wrong. We're trying very hard to have LimeWire run smoothly on as many computers as possible, but the unfortunate fact is that there will inevitably be some that we just can't get working, atleast not without some clever and motivated customers who can sleuth down the problem on their computer and present a solution. Thanks. |
not a Limewire fault If people would read the "README" that comes with XP SP2, they would know that Microsoft has intergrated 2000 and XP. What does this mean? All compatabilities need to be set to 2000, sheesh. Why? Bill Gates way of getting more money for same programs, LOL! Anywho, people should READ before directing blame towards another (hmm, for example, Limewire) because they were too much in a hurry to do the crap right. Sheesh, I been with Windows since, hmmm, I guess since it was PeepHoles. Needless to say, I am running XP SP2 with NO PROBLEMS!!! KEEP ON ROCKING, LIMEWIRE!!!!!!!!!! |
