limewire using way too much memory

Limewire is using in upwards of 50000 k/bs in task manager
it also has at times affected other web user, Internet Explorer, Increimail, and MSN Messenger. I am running Win XP home with SP2, any suggestions? I also have the latest version of Java 1.4.2 _06, I am also unsure if I am using Java correctly. I could really use some assistance

When you have a fast connection, Limewire make you to a ultrapeer this means that you handle the search traffic for the slower users via your line.

This can happen when all (or almost all) of your upload speed is used. Limit the upload speed in Limewire.

Limewire wouldn´t start if there is a error with java, so all should be OK.
