Java Class not found!?

I have just recently upgraded to LimeWire 1.6d and in the process the JRE was also upgraded to 1.3.1. When I try to start LimeWire an Error occurs that says "LimeWire has encountered the following error: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: a.a.a.b.Main" I´m running win98. Does anyone know how to fix this? //Håkan

try this maybe

i dont know if this is the problem, but i had to recently format my hardrive so i had to redownload limewire and it made me download (JAVA 2 RUNTIME ENVIRONMENT). Try to find where to get this or maybe uninstall limewire and redownload the newest version and maybe it will download the program for you as it did me.

Stand-alone Java Install

If you want a stand-alone Java installer, go to:

http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.3/jre/

This may be able to fix the seemingly corrupted Java2 JRE 1.3.1 downloaded by the LimeWire installer. I would recommend uninstalling the Java2 (the one LimeWire got for you) before installing the standalone one. :-)

Hi, I´ve installed JRE 1.3.1 from your link again and also reinstalled LimeWire 1.6d again from two different servers but the error still occurs. The first time I start the program and it takes me through the starting guide it starts up OK but the second time when the program tries to start directly the error pops up.

By the way, I didn´t start the new thread... /Håkan

I am sorry, but I am unable to register at this time, but do know that this message is coming from two different people.

a.a.a.b.Main in version 1.6d

Hi Guys!

After a look at the "limewire.props" file in the LimeWire directory I discovered the following line at the beginning:

MAIN_CLASS=a.a.a.b.Main

If you comment it ("#") it works again, but takes more time to start up. Anyway, after this it writes it anew.
BTW: Does any Developer read this forum?

Your UncleVan.

Yes,

I am a developer. I am currently trying to create an online server tracker. Would you like any help on anything? I know a variety of languages, just not Visual Basic. Don't ask about VB :)

For everyone getting the problem with a.a.a.b.Main, here's the fix:

When LimeWire is not running, open your the file called "limewire.props" in your LimeWire installation directory in a simple text editor.

As mentioned in an earlier post, you should see a line that reads:

MAIN_CLASS=a.a.a.b.Main

Change this line to read:

MAIN_CLASS=com.limegroup.gnutella.gui.Main

and then save the file.

The next time you run LimeWire, everything should work correctly.
