First, reduce the number of pending DownLoads...

What connection 'speed' do you have for Down and Up ?

The wise way to find your optimum configurations for the number of DownLoad and Upload slots is to start with the minimum and, with careful observation over a 'generous' period of time, increase the number of slots... SLOWLY... Step by step...
When things slow down in regards the total number of your transfer within a period of days, you know you have gone too far and you need to reduce, slightly, the number of slots allowed.
Same goes for whether you allow 'Browsing' or not and in regards to the maximum number of Queued Upload slots allowed.

Start Small... Increase Slowly... Share more with 'less'...

Most people are the same as you... They want the files to transfer as fast as possible and be DONE !
The only way to do that is for all people involved in p2p to use thier bandwidth properly so as to make for the fastest (shortest overall time) successful file transfer. Overall numbers of 'active' downloads/uploads mean nothing. Only completed transfers are important. The less 'clock time' involved means the less 'exposure' to possible failure.

Make any sense ?

btw... Frequent or overuse of the Force Resume or Search or Find More Sources functions will also slow not only you but the network as well...
It is considered very bad behaviour. ;)

Was I scammed?

Well I have just brought the limewire pro after trying out the lite version.

It says the pro version will be turbocharged downloads, havent found any yet?

What is the go?

edit

On the pro version it does not show any search results, and the lite version does, hmm something wrong here?

On the pro version I cant find any files when I search, on the lite version I found plenty of files, again something wrong here?

verdict

ok for the above problem, it seems whenever I try to perform a search it just clears what I am searching for which is why I do not get any results. Can anyone help?

Please keep your posts on one topic to one thread. http://www.gnutellaforums.com/announ...?s=&forumid=29

I am in the same sort of situation, but my newly paid for limewire pro wont actually show any search results.

When I type in something to search then press the search button it just resets the field and nothing is searched. Was I ripped off?

Berntsen...: Try to manually search your sources, not overdo using Resume funtion. Using the Resume funtion on all or most of your files will result in them queuing for much, much longer periods & can give LW's connection quality problems. Doing a search is much more effective & healthier for LW.

WastedMyMoney: There's a couple of possible reasons for your problem.
1. Did you purchase the legitimate version of LW from here: http://www.limewire.com/english/content/download.shtml or did you pay someone else for your version? LW Pro costs $18.88

2. Update your Java: Java 1.4.2 (click on link)

3. Make sure you're connected. Allow LW some time to settle down after opening.
Do this test after LW's been on for 30 mins: Bug Report instructions & sample image If it's False you have a connection problem.

4. Here's some hints: A well set-up LW can start to automatically continue its dwnlding after it's settled down perhaps 2 out of 3 times you open LW. Optimising LW & Maximising Uplds & Dwnlds A (1st post only) & also Part B which is even better & last & least are search & dwnld hints. The latter one I've been thinking about re-writing for some time. That's just for playing it safe. eg- I show all speeds & qualities.

Can you give us a total desciption of your set up: 1. OS version, 2. What firewalls you have, 3. ram, 4. HDD space available, 5. Connection type, 6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers, 7. Where are you trying to connect from (home, school, work, etc.)?
These details are vital if you want us to find out what your problem is.

WastedMyMoney December 16th, 2004 10:33 PM

OS = XP Home Version 2002 SP 1
Firewalls = None
RAM = 512mb
HDD Space = 120gb
Connection = DSL (512/256)
DSL Modem = D-Link DSL-302G, no router
Connecting From = Home

Lord of the Rings December 16th, 2004 10:45 PM

There's several steps you will need to go thru to solve your problem & get a healthy operation for LW.

1. With XP you will have XP's own firewall. Whether it's turned on or off it should be configured to allow both LW & Java (javaw) access: http://www.limewire.com/english/content/firewalls.shtml

Also your D-Link modem will have an internal type of firewall called NAT. you will need to forward a port to allow LW full (not just partial) access.

2. Make sure you set up a Static IP Address 1st!

3. Port Forwarding for the Dlink DSL-302G & use port 6346

4. Within LW force IP: Force IP instructions & sample image

If you do all these things 'correctly' you should find your problems have disappeared & a healthy connection. Refere back to the previous post to update Java & follow the optimisation hints. Good luck. ;)
