will not launch at all
 

i recently installed limewire basic. it worked well fro about 2 days, then apon start up one morning, it would not launch. after browsing these forums i could not find any help specific to me. so i installed limewire pro 4.2.6, and am having the exact same problem, i can not find any files in c:/documents and settings/admin/.limewire. can anyone help?

Try these things one by one to see if you can have any luck:
1. Repair LimeWire using the Add/Remove Programs utility. Go to Control Panel then Add/Remove Programs & click on Limewire on the Change/Remove button & it comes up with options and one of them is Repair. Try this.
2. Right-clicking the Limewire icon and going to properties and changed compatability setting to Windows 2000.
3. Update your Java version version 1.5 (take the JRE)
4. Right-click on the Limewire icon on the desktop and click on Run as. Then it should up showing the current user and then switch it over to Administrator.
5. Delete the LW Preferences folder called .limewire (whilst LW is closed!) Use your system search engine to find it.

I am having a similar problem with limewire. I started it up once, started downloading files and then my computer rebooted and now the program won't start.

After reading the forums for a bit I uninstalled ZoneAlarm and cleaned up all the remnants. Then I tried everything that you mentioned in the last post, but it just will not start up at all.

chalkwalk what type of error message did you get when the comp rebooted? It could be a hardware issue. eg: Graphics card needing upgrading firmware, etc.
