chat error "host is unavailable" and other questions hi, i use a p2p software called "music hall" (ver. 3.0), and i wanted to know if that is a clone of limewire, because the user interfaces of both programs are VERY similar. also, when i try to chat with a host who is downloading a file from me, i get the msg "host is unavailable". what exactly does that mean? lastly, how can i block a certain IP address (host) from downloading files from me? thanx in advance, regards, guy24x |
To block a host: Tools>Options>Filters>Hosts & then add each one individually & press the Apply button. If host is unavailable, it means they may be away from their comp (many people leave their comp on overnight or whilst they're at work/school.) Or they have the program hidden in the background whilst they work on other applications. OR they've decided they don't wish to chat. Just b/c you get that message doesn't mean they've deliberately snubbed you! So I hope you'e not going to block them for just that reason. You'll find you get that message quite often. If you block them & they were unaware of your message, then that's not really fair on them. I don't know about music hall, but it could be a rip off version. Perhaps somebody else knows. |
hi lord of rings, thx for the reply. i was trying to block a host that downloads from me about 5-10% of big files (above 100 MB) and then restarts all over from the beginning. maybe his limewire client has a problem or something i dont know, i just dont want my bandwidth to be wasted. regarding blocking a host, as you had mentioned, it says in the program "you can disallow messages from specific hosts..." does that mean just chat messages, or will it totally block any data transfer to that host too? thanks. regards, guy24x |
