How to make VLC player preview my downloadwed files Hi, am a newbie to all this, have just read a message re not being able to open avi files in windows media player 10 due to an error message, which is exactly the problem I am having. The answer was to open the movie in the VLC player, I have this player but how do I preview my downloads with it? I cannot find a way to make it my default player in Limewire.Every time I preview a file,it goes straight to media player. Please can someone help me,it is very stressing when I am downloading movies from limewire and then I can't open them. Thanks |
thats a problem that only reinstalling wmp can fix |

click on your partial download in limewire and drag it off to the desktop - you can do this whilst it is still downloading...it just puts a copy on you desk top. Now just drag this copy into the opened vlc and volia! the clip now plays. You can simply delete the desktop clip after and the file in LW continues downloading throught all this.. |
Greetings katey64 If you would like to make VLC your default player for that particular type of file you can do this. In winXP Open windows explorer locate that type of file (ie. .avi,.mpg, etc) do a single right click with the pointer over the icon. This will open another window. Then go to open with>chose program --- select VLC --- Then make sure the box is checked that says ---- Always use the selected program to open this type of file ---- click ok --- This will set VLC as the default player for that type of file. You will need to do this for each file type you want VLC to be the default player for. Then when you click preview in LW it will automaticly open VLC to preview the file. lassie's suggestion is also good if you don't want to set VLC as your default player. ;) :D Best of luck |
Setting Default video app (click on link) with VLC as the example. |
