Error condition in 1.6d

At random times after starting Limewire, it bombs. It is wrecking
my large downloads. I am having to spend inordinate amounts
of time manually restarting things. I get an error window from
javaw.exe some of the time. This just began with 1.6d.

I am running on Windows 2000 professional with all the
latest and greatest updates installed.

HELP!

Spyware

It may be possible that you have some spyware that is interfering with LimeWire. In Windows, go the Add/Remove Programs dialog and look for an entry named New.net. Kill it. Also, you can download adware to clean out all of your other spyware as well.

Error condition in 1.6d

While the ad-aware was indeed interesting, and cleaned out
tons of stuff from those bas^&*(s at comet cursor, double click,
etc., it did not fix the limewire problem. With explorer 6.0, most
of these things are blocked by a new security setting and a
notification at the bottom of the window that they have indeed
blocked one of these transmissions does help.

Limewire finally caught an error condition and asked me to
send the contents of the remaing window to bugs@limewire.com
which I did. 1.6b was really stable here and I wish I had
retained a copy locally

I just read the afisk (limeware developer) thread on unable to
connect.

I downloaded the 1.6d with jre 1.1.8 as mentioned in the thread
"Users unable to connect". While this does not help you
mac folks, it appears to have completely fixed my windows 2000
problem. I don't know what Sun and microsoft have jointly
done in the newer virtual machines (the error is present in
either virtual machine) but it's definitely not compatible with
1.6d

Thanks.

If you want to stick with 1.4b, you can still download it here:
