Er ... why exactly was my post deleted?

I posted in this forum earlier about LW resuming incomplete downloads on its own, before I even connected to the network, but now the thread is gone. I thought it might have been moved to the Connection or Downloads forum, but it's not there either. I looked at the posting rules, and, as far as I know, I was complying with them fully. And I couldn't find another thread about this topic.

I know this post itself is destined for the ether, but what the heck? What was wrong with my original post?

If I was just misunderstanding the workings of LW, fine, I could've benefitted from someone enligthening me, but ... ?

Hey peerless--happy new year.

FWIW, I think I recall reading a post in the last few days asking why LW downloads before connecting to the network. I can't find it now, but don't think there was anything in it likely to involve moderation. As you say, it's really hard to search for a users past posts if they aren't registered.

If it's the one Dexter83 is asking about, perhaps it was mistakenly moderated instead of a different post. I doubt the mods made a mistake: over the last few years I haven't seen them make any.

(btw--file transfers can take place if LW is running but not connected. The connnections are only needed to start and send search results and replies. That's why old incompletes or uploads can start as soon as LW is opened)

Now I'm all nice and registered.

stief -- ah, I figured it was something like that (re: incompletes downloading on their own, before LW is connected). Just wanted to find out.

Peerless -- well, I checked every board under the LW umbrella, and it's gone. I only made the post yesterday. Someone replied but didn't answer my question, I replied back, and that was the last I saw of it. I came looking for it this morning and it was gone. Unless some genius moved it to a non-LimeWire board, it looks to have been deleted. Either way is fine, actually, because it wasn't a big deal to begin with, and stief just answered my question.

Odd, tho.

!!

Er ... I'm pretty sure I didn't insult anyone. o_O

I didn't say anything inflammatory at all. Nothing of the sort. I just described my situation and asked questions.

This is getting weird.

hehe--if you didn't insult a mod, I'd guess you're being confused with some other poster then, and your thread was deleted by mistake.

Anyway, if mods deleting posts is a new approach, I liked it better when flamers were locked, not deleted.

[hi back peerless. I've been away, and trying to get caught up (and warm again:) ). Hope your new year is looking good]
