Windows 98 Freezeup

I have experienced a freeze up with Limewire which involves it only showing the logo and nothing else after startup. It works once correctly after installation and the will not work thereafter. If I uninstall it and reinstall it it will work once again! Does anyone have any ideas on how to get around this?

I too have been facing this same problem lately. I thought it was a virus at first, but after cleaning up my system, re-installing Windows, Defragmenting, running scandisk etc etc...It still won't work. I had it working for about a month, and then it all of a sudden just stopped! All I get is the start screen and nothing, then it stops responding...Why can't other file sharing services just WORK? you know, Like Napster did? :-)

I am now starting to come up with the same problem that has been described above. I originally had Limewire working fine for a few months now but it suddenly stopped working (less than a week ago) and it only works after the first installation. i don't know what is wrong because me roommate got the program the same time i did and he also runs win98 and he has no problems whatsoever. can someone out there please help?

Is everyone who has experienced this problem sharing a large number of files (say 500 or more)?

The LimeWire team has received numerous reports regarding this issue. We have made significant modifications to the code base to improve application startup for LimeWire 1.4, and this problem should be solved as well. We will be releasing the new version by the end of the week, so hopefully everyone will no longer experience this significant bug from LimeWire 1.3.

Please let us know if this continues to be a problem, and I hope everyone enjoys the powerful new features in LimeWire 1.4.

I also have this problem, and have reinstalled limewire. I got an automated reply when I e-mailed support@limewire, and have looked over everything.

This problem totally stops me from using limewire, and no, I'm not sharing 500 files. I'm sharing about 105. I even tried not sharing anything.

Thanks for any help you can offer.
