Limewire start up problems I get stuck at this every time I try to start up. This is my first time downloading LimeWire as well. http://img167.exs.cx/img167/2487/problem2yq.th.jpg Edit: I've tried some of the other suggestions posted. Downloaded the new Java and deleted the .limewire folder. Still doesn't work. |
Which version of Java were you using before this happened? Which version of Java do you have now? Try rebooting & then opening LW. What firewalls & anti-virus & anti-adaware/spyware apps do you have? Have you given permission to them for LW to run? (Nice deskop pic!) |
Have you made any video or display changes lately? When was the last time you updated your video drivers? check out this link. http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...0&pagenumber=2 just a few thoughts |
ATi just put up an update within the month I believe. They're up to date. |
Is your comp. a DELL by chance. If it is you need to get the updated drivers from DELL and not ATI. My comp. is a DELL and I found this out a couple of months ago when I did video driver updates from ATI. I had to uninstall the ATI drivers and install the DELL drivers for my video card to work right even though the video card is made by ATI. Don't ask me what the difference is I have no idea, but everything straightened up with my video card when I installed the DELL drivers. |
Nope not a Dell. Built it myself. |
I rolled back my video card drivers to the last release and that fixed it. Thanks for the help! For future reference I was using an ATi X800 Pro. So maybe if someone has the same problem it'll be of some help. |
I was using ATi's newest drivers which was the 5.2 version. To fix the problem I rolled back to the 5.1 version. |
Ooh, sounds like I'm in luck. I've got exactly the same problem as you and an X800 :D I'll try rolling back! |

Problem solved!! I just put the ATi Control Panel...instead the entire Catalyst control panel. Thanks to anyone however. |
Well...I have Nvidia Geforce MX4000 and my display drivers according to hardware device manager, are spot on. Any ideas as to why LW still crashes on my XP machine? Before you ask: 80gb main, 120 gb removable. 512 ram sempron 2400 |
I just set my D3D settings to default for my ATI and my problems went away. Might be a AA or AF problem. |
Hi Dee132 can you define AA & AF. AA is not Alcoholics Annonymous is it? lol http://users.pandora.be/eforum/emoti.../happy/019.gif http://pages.prodigy.net/indianahawkeye/newpage08/8.gif |
Greetings Lord of The Ring AA= Anti Aliasing AF=Anisotropic Filtering Cheers |

OMG, you have no idea how much I love you! I was having the same blank window startup problems (seems to be a Java thing, BTW, not just Limewire) and tried everything: Re-installing Java, deleting .limewire folder, re-installing Limewire, updating drivers, etc, etc... Now all I had to do was stick AA and AF on Aplication controlled and it works again!!! What a complete and utter star. |
Thanks I also went through a lot of trouble trying to get this to work. When I saw the other thread saying it was due to "cheap display boards" I got a little mad considering I have a fairly new X800XT PE, I don't think this was a cheap display board. Lowering my D3D did fix it though, thank you. |
