Hi - I also have the same problem. I Used to use Limewire years ago - but have been mostly using Kazaa Lite Resurection recently. I have found that the slow-down seems to be related to how many people are downloading from you. I have a 2MB ADSL connection (so still got the crippliing 256k upload restriction!) And I have Ultrapeer disabled - but this makes no difference to performance. Even though the people downloading from me only seem to be doing so at a slow speed (8kb ?) it still hammers my internet performance. I can only imagine that LimeWire aint too good at prioritising and managing new threads (program threads here.) Any clues ? Cheers.. Opp.

THe recent versions of LW shouldn't slow down your browsing. IF they seem to, limit uploads to about 85% of your upstream bandwidth. To find out your "real" upstream bandwidth, run a test like the one found here http://www.broadbandreports.com/stest

Hey, I had the same problem, Limewire slowed down everything. Make sure you have the latest version of Java. That fixed the problem for me. get it here: http://java.sun.com/ hope it works, Mike
