Windows XP restarting

My Windows keeps restarting at different times if I have Limewire running. I am using Windows XP and the newest version of Limewire. Does anyone know what might cause this??

I have plenty of memory and plenty of virtual memory, and it certainly cant be overloading my processor. Any ideas???

Hmmm check out the links in the bottom of this post. http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=35263

But the restarts only happen when Limewire is on. I can go a whole day without starting Limewire and the computer never restarts, but then I start Limewire and eventually the computer will restart.

I read the link about the reboots. I checked all those things and i am fine. Plenty of RAM. 120GB HD. Power Supply is brand new. Video Card has newest driver. My virus scan is run on a regular basis and my firewall didnt come until later, so thats not the problem. Anymore suggestions?? I am using Windows XP without any service packs included (those things are evil!! hehe)

Auto restarts AFAIK are due to Graphic Card issues, viruses or CPU issues. You haven't told us much about your system so it makes it a bit hard.

LW & Java can use a lot of resources & so puts whatever problem it is into ignition mode so the problem with your comp becomes apparent. Chances are that if you were using another heavy duty program it might also incite the problem to show itself. It's most likely a hardware issue or incompatible/out of date drivers for the hardware. Recent graphic card updates have been known to have problems. Your problem might even be due to poor interfacing b/w hardware components.

I have done everything I can with my graphic card. I guess it might have something to do with my power supply. I opened up and checked it out. Only a 250W power supply. They screwed me when they (isnt there always a they, hehe) repaired my computer a couple months ago. I am ordering a 450W power supply right now. Before I order though, do you people think it is a wise assumption that it might be the power supply?? I mean, my graphic card is running equal with G-Force 4, or so the benchmark tests say. I dunno, I am about a year behing on all the hardware info since I dont work in that field, anymore at the moment.

xp restart

I'm having the same problems with restarts using XP. The automatic error report sent to windows generated a reply that indicated it is likely a driver problem with recently installed software or hardware. I haven't installed hardware (it's a 2-month-old computer), and my only recently installed software is Limewire.

Mine, too, only restarts when Limewire is running.

Try setting your graphic card settings back to default. Some had an issue with 3D settings for games. And others had an issue with graphic card driver updates that were had problems.
