Win2K installation problems I have just tried installing 1.7, and I get the following popup: "An installation support file could not be installed. Error loading type library/DLL." I have tried all steps suggested in the FAQ, and I have even paid a visit to the InstallShield knowledge base and followed all workarounds suggested there. But nothings seems to work, I still can't get LimeWire installed. Any suggestions? Dan Tessier |
Just making sure about this one: Are you logged in as the Administrator or "Super User" of the computer when you try to install LimeWire? |
Yes, I have tried both logging as Administrator, and giving my usual userid Administrator priviledge, to no avail. In fact, I have followed ALL recommendations in the FAQ to the letter, without any exceptions. Dan |
LimeWire is being pretty frustrating for you, then. Well, if you already have JRE installed, you could just borrow (copy) somebody's program files and place them in your programs folder. This is usually looked down upon, but in your case, all other options (as far as I know) have been exhausted. Maybe I could e-mail a zip archive to you?? Just a suggestion. :-) |
That would be great. On a related note, I've done some experimenting tonight, and all applications that use InstallShield are failing to install on my machine right now, not just LimeWire. Unfortunately, InstallShield won't give me the time of day. I was told they don't deal with end-users, and they are adamant that this problem lies with the application developers. If any of the LimeWire developers and/or package maintainers read this, perhaps you could help me get in touch with someone over there who could help get this resolved? Thanks a lot for any assistance you can provide, Dan Tessier |
I need your e-mail address to send you the archives. You can post it here, or send it to me via Private Message. You will need to register if you decide to go that route, though. ;-) |
I have just downloaded the "Other" package (LimeWireWinNoVM.zip), and that is working fine for me. Thanks for the offer though. Dan |
