The Chat Feature Just Doesnt Work!
 

Ive got LimeWire PRO 4.8.1, my freind gave it to me on cd so i can't contact the makers, when you right click a search result or a download you can press "chat with host", when i press that nothing happens, I have chat enabled in the settings!
I don't know what is going on here, does chat work for other people?

When you enabled Chat in the settings did you press the Apply button? Let's also hope you're not firewalled. See tips here How to Direct Connect, Browse & Chat

Do this test: Bug Report instructions & sample image Is the result True/False? If False then you have a firewall issue. Configure your firewall for full LW access here: http://www.limewire.com/english/content/firewalls.shtml
And only use one firewall. 2 can interfere with each other.

Almost forgot, you can often only chat with other people who have chat enabled! This is not necessarily always the case but. Also other p2p programs are not always easy to chat to. So set chat column up by righ-clicking the top of the column bar in downld, search results & upld windows.

I have got a wireless router, I could forward certain ports that are needed. I looked and it said false, I did press apply and I have tried chatting to people on the LimeWire client.
I think it's just because of the router, if you could give me the ports required by limewire or the gnutella network i could give them a try.

I found the port number for Gnutella on the firewall part 6346. I will try that now.

it worked, i configured that port for Limewire, my Router and the windows xp firewall and now that message says true and limewire is allot faster!
