Driver_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL?

I am a new Limewire user. I just installed Limewire 4.8.1 a few weeks ago and started having trouble right away. After Limewire has been running for 20-30 minutes, my computer freezes with a blue screen and the Driver_IRQL_... message. I have to completely unplug the computer to get it to reset. It doesn't seem to be a screensaver issue because it will freeze up while I'm using it. Before it freezes, I am downloading fine.
I have a 2 month old Dell Dimension 4700, WinXP Pro SP2, 2.80Ghz Pentium 4, 1GB memory, 110GB free space on HD, Radeon X300 display adapter, Netgear FA311 Fast Ethernet Adapter, Surfboard cable modem, McAfee Firewall, Java 5.0 (1.5.0), IE 6.
My IE 6 Internet Security is set to Medium. I don't have Limewire.com in my Trusted Sites list.
I am connecting from home. Mediacom.
I have Limewire set to not start up when I start my computer.
I have tried the following:
1. Disabling the McAfee firewall.
2. Completely uninstalling Limewire (including deleting the .Limewire and other folders) and then downloading and reinstalling with firewall disabled.
3. Allowing Full Access to Limewire.exe in my firewall software.
4. Uninstalling and reinstalling Java.
I'm sure I've tried a few more things, but I forgot what they were.
Can anyone help?

Blue screen is probably related to your graphics card driver or setting.

You use an ethernet modem then ... that's good.

Some suggestions:

* Tip: Purge the Downloads Queue!

* After opening LW wait 10 to 20 mins before using. Let it settle down 1st.

* Go to LW's prefs>Speed & tick disable Ultrapeer Cap. & press apply button.
* Set both uplds & downlds to autoclear.
* Close all LW windows you don't need open at that time.
* If you're not in front of your comp, then hide LW in the program bar.

* Don't use the Resume button on all incomplete files. This can have side-fx such as affect LW's connection quality. This will also stress LW & your comp. If you use Resume/Find sources then just apply it to a couple or so at one time.

LOTR - Tried all of your steps. Still crashing. I have tried both with Limewire maximized and downloading and searching; and also with Limewire minimized and doing other work. After 20-30 minutes in both cases - it crashed.

Hi arnold931

The problem you are suffering is caused by your ATI catalyst for your display adapter.
