Cant get limewire to work, just stays grey.

I cant get it to work just stays grey.
im using 4.8.1 and have even tried updating java. It used to work now it doesnt.

Try updating your video card drivers and if they are up to date, try to revert to older drivers, they are much likely the source of the bug.

If you are using aa in the driver control panel for your video card, set it to application controlled. For some reason it tries to use AA on the java graphics. This gives the grey screen.
