Question My first day

I've just started and have a few questions.

For music, I typed in Tori Amos and hit search. Well, I've waited for an hour and got no hits. So I typed in Elvis (same thing).

Searching for Paris Hilton's video got a ton of hits....

So, now I'm trying to upload a file. It's coming in at 1KB/second

Boy, that's fast. I have a satelite connection...I pay 50 bux a month for it. And 1kb/second is the fastest this thing gets? from a server saying it's a T1 connection?

Ok, what's wrong here.

The advertising that there are 99 million songs online....what? no one likes Elvis? (or Tori Amos?).

I have some good news and some bad news for you:

Bad news is that you are the victim of a scam most probably. AFAIK, no official LW ad says that there are any number of songs or video files available. The adress for the official LW site is www.limewire.com Click this link to find out more about membership and other scams plaguing the net about LW and what can be done.

Good news is that it may be possible to get better (if it's possible, then "far better" for you) speeds.
You must first see if you've got a firewall up, or a router or whatever: those things are susceptible to hinder LW performance.
Go to the Options (they are under Tools) and click Bug Report on the left index.
Click the Example button and then browse to the line that says: " Recieved incomming this session".
-If it say false, then you have a firewall/router problem. Check any firewalls that you may have and check if they allow LW to connect (here is a link to configuring firewalls for LW). If firewalls aren't the problem, then you must have a router. http://portforward.com/ is a complete guide to configuring firewalls/routers. Find your router in there and follow the instructions.
-If it says true, then you must Optimize your LW configuration (IMO): http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=27036
