It wont connect

Hi,
after i installed limewire it worked fine (and flew compared to sheraza). but then a day fter i had some troubles with a proxy server i attempted to use that was broken.
i didnt realize that it was the proxy that was stoping me connecting to the net so i uninstalled internet explorer, firefox and every new program i installed in the last few days inluding limewire. after i fixed the problem and put everything back limewire wont connect.

i get a message saying its a firewall or router but it worked with my router 3 days ago and the firewall has it on the white list.

i really would love any help i get on the matter

Do you need to use a proxy to connect? Sometimes you need to change the proxy you use. And then keep changing until you find one that works.

I know you said you configured your firewall but just to double-check: http://www.limewire.com/english/content/firewalls.shtml

Try deleting your LW Preferences folder whilst LW is closed; instructions here: Fixes for Limewire

If still problems post back with the followintg details.
Can you give us a total desciption of your set up:
1. OS version? (eg: Windows 98)
2. What firewalls you have?
3. How much ram?
4. Hard Disk space available?
5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.)
6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers?
7. Where are you trying to connect from (home, school, work, etc.)?
8. What version of Limewire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version.
9. Who is your isp provider?

PS. i dont need a proxy to connect but i use one because of limitations to refferal links on a game and stuff like that

iPrimus, I'm not sure but I think that means you're a local (to me); you also use the same connection speed as me.

From what I see HERE & HERE your modem uses UPnp (Universal Plug & Play.) Which means port forwarding such as THIS shouldn't be necessary. However for net games, you might need to do port forwarding depending on the game I guess. (LW uses port 6346 by default.)

I'm not sure but changing from your proxy might have caused some issues, I don't know.
If you want to connect via proxy then you'll need to make adjustments within LW. Here's a few proxy instructions if you want to head that way (a bit of work though): (1.) A Fix for those whose ISP's block Limewire pages 1 & 2 which has a link to alternative instructions.
(2) Another Insight proxy solution (3) http proxies
(4) A Successful http Proxy Solution

* Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there?

i repeated what u told me to do and it now works fine!
the test thing says ur test worked.
THANX ALOT!!!
