Chunked files in Limewire?

I capture basketball games of a sports team, encode them to cd archivable wmv files and share them for fans that may not get coverage in their area.

I currently use eMule for this but many less technical users have problems with setting up their home LANs to avoid what eMule terms a low ID. The max concurrent connections limit imposed by a Windows hotfix did not help either.

I'm thinking the UPnP capabilities of Limewire may go a long way in alleviating the problems.

After a few quick test downloads it appears LW does use multisource downloading but I am unclear as to if when I release a file as the only source, will downloaders begin to share the file as soon as they get what eMule dubbed a chunk or will they have to download the complete file before others can begin to get it from them?

Is that question even understandable as written?

Thanks

Swarming

By default, LimeWire clients do swarm partially downloaded files, so if you are the first source of a file that is in high demand, other people will rather quickly start helping distribute the file. Each person starts sharing each chunk once they have verified that the chunk is not corrupted.

Excellent.

I have a test file ready to go.

Now, hopefully most of the ones having trouble downloading have an UPnP enabled router.

Thanks

Hi ZOXXO

I would just make a minor correction to what kmag posted.

kmag is corrected provided that the user has not disabled allow partial sharing.

In LW tools>options>uploads>basics --- allow partial sharing. That box must be checked for what knag stated. If it isn't then the entire file must downloaded before it can be shared.
