Get protection from the experts

It really stinks that you got a virus, but I highly doubt you got a virus from LimeWire. More likely, you got a virus from running something you downloaded using LimeWire.

You could have done exactly the same thing using FireFox or Internet Explorer to download and run an infected program from a stranger's website.

Running at least one virus scanner from one of the reputable vendors (and keeping it up to date) is common sense online safety.

LimeWire does not have any virus experts. If you want virus protection, you probably want virus protection from the experts. In the same way, if you want your car repaired, you probably want to go to car repair experts rather than offering to pay a LimeWire developer to fix your car. LimeWire devolopers simply don't have expertise in the virus detection or car repair fields.

The program DID NOT infect your computer. YOU downloaded and executed a file that contained a virus that infected your computer. This is your own fault - not LimeWire's. LimeWire is merely a tool for finding and shareing files. There is absolutly NO control over what is shared (simply because it's impossible to control). My advise is to get a good anti-virus program such as AVG if you're cheap, or Norton AV/SystemWorks if you can pay. I scan every file I download from the Gnutella network, and hardly ever download executable applications. Good luck.
