1.7 launches 1.6x Using Windows 2nd edition SE, 1 gig processor, 512 meg, 60 gig hard drive. I have tried four times to install 1.7. The first time, I removed 1.6, using add/remove, downloaded and installed 1.7. I received an error message about 1.7 not being able to open 1.7 at the next start up because it could not find the Java program. The error message said it would have to shutdown 1.7 I found the Java program and aimed it toward 1.7, it did not work either at startup or when boot of computer was complete, same error message. The third time, I downloaded 1.7, hand deleted 1.6b, shutdown and the error message came up again. I thought that the 1.6 had some info in it that 1.7 needed even though I checked each folder in 1.6 and it was duplicated in 1.7. I got 1.6 back then downloaded 1.7 and the computer loaded 1.6 instead of 1.7 at start up. I then hand started 1.7 and it came up, then I closed 1.6 I checked msconfig and it has only one start up choice called Limewire. That's about it, any ideas.. The FAQ has several questions dealing with or related to these problems. Have they been of any help? |
regedit had something similar...my prob was an errant shortcut pointing to the wrong version...my solution was to....deep breath.....wallop it in the registry. uninstalled ALL limewire and did a search in the registry for the same...and sure enough the uninstaller left stuff everywhere. deleted it and re-installed. works ok.
