Limewire
 

Hello, I have tried using 4.8 and 4.8.1, neither one is working.. when I install it, and try running it, nothing happens, I see it connecting and nothing. So far, I've downloaded the latest version of Java, disabled firewalls, deleted .limewire, and all of that to no avail. I really don't know what else to do.. i am using xp home (new pc)... What else can i do?

1. Go directly to the LW program folder & try opening from there. Sometimes shortcuts become corrupted. If it opens then recreate the shortcuts. If not, then see below.

2. Try changing the compatibility of LW to Win 2k mode; instructions: Fixes for Limewire (point 4)

3. If that doesn't work, uninstall Java 1.5 & install Java 1.4.2 instead. (see java link from above.) But dowdnld Java to your comp., don't install over the net. ;)

* By the way, LW 4.8.0 had a security issue. That's a good reason to update!
