Thats what i DID, n 127.0.0.1 changed to DAVID2 after i pressed okay. I want to know how to stop this from happening so i can use LW

Devil` July 21st, 2005 07:46 PM

DUDE ! "127.0.0.1" is the loopback address ! it means tht whtever u send on tht address will come back to your machine !

So Its Like ...

The Machine You Are Using Is David2 And Its Address Is 127.0.0.1

So IT WONT FRIGGIN MAKE A DIFFERENCE coz they r same !

okay thanks... damn tho i still can't get it to work...

Theres it says theres a firewall still blocking it... n I've tried every firewall on my system that i know of.... since i have a computer on a network with another computer, and that computer has Norton, would i have to make an allowed rule for LW on that computer?!

Norton & IP Addresses

Fox_Worthy

It is obvious that you are very confused about what you are doing, and to tell you the truth, you are confusing me also.

1) 127.0.0.1 a default IP address that all windows PCs get, you will find this on your hosts file (which can be found in C:\Windows\system32\drivers\etc\)

I really don't know what you are trying to achieve by using this Windows default IP Address.

Please note, if you are on a network the DHCP server will allocate your PC a temporary IP address that will be used by it to access the internet and other network services. As far as I am aware, the default IP address (127.0.0.1) is not used externally.

2) To use LW with Norton (I have used NPF 2003 and I now use NPF 2005) you will have to create a rule or Norton will block anything that tries to access the internet without your permission.

Hope this helps but I think that you are so confused that you will need a computer tech person to actually show you what to do.

Yes, i seem to do that -confuse or show my point so obscurley that i confuse the listener in question - i was going to have a tech. person come in.. that was my last despret attempt.. i just figured since i use a computer on a 2 computer network, the same rules would have to be on the other computer as well.

UK Bob, 127.0.0.1 is a so called loopback address, not really related to Windows PCs and a great fun to fool n00b H4x0rs
