Default playing .avi media

hi, how can I play .avi media files, the window media player dont support so i download a ace divx that does support but it cant play .avi file either, is it some kind of zip file that need to be unzip or something.

Hey get VLC if only as a backup player: http://www.videolan.org/vlc/ (choose nearest mirror site) Also see this CODECs list for Movies & check out things like GSpot!

soory it was mpeg file but it still dont work and I tried to code it with divx and gspot, it cant convert it.

It depends what you're wanting to do. If you only want to play it on the computer then get a player that can play it. If you want to burn it then the recent & full versions of Nero & Roxio should be able to burn it.

GSpot tells you the codec you need to play it. It doesn't convert it per se. It reads the particular format.

hi i tried out VLC but i have got a bit lost, I chose my operating system (windows) and then it gives a list to choose from but non of them are UK. what do I do?
