Cannot click off the 'Upgrade to Pro' startup window

Whenever I start Limewire, it shows that usual "Upgrade to Pro" window. Well, I usually click "Later" to get off the window and do what I need to do, but for some reason, it is not letting me "click" any of the options or the 'x' to close the window.

I am thinking this has either to do with Microsoft .NET Framework or the Java platform, but I need Framework to run another program.

The only way I can get off the window is by going to task manager and ending Limewire under the Proccesses tab.

Please help, because I am sure this can be a benefit to other users that have had the same problem.

I do recall seeing this problem some time back but I can't recall the remedy. One might be re-installing Java. But might I suggest you start by deleting your LW Preferences folder whilst LW is closed; instructions here: Fixes for Limewire

Hahaha good timing fabion. lol  :D

hi Spyder195

A litlle more information would be helpful if LOTR's suggestions don't help.

What windows version and sp are you using?
What LimeWire version are you using?
What Java version are you using?

I am running Windows XP with Service pack 2.

I am also running Limewire version 4.9.11

I tried deleting the preferences folder and starting up again (I couldnt do the "repair" part since my version is higher than 4.4) and when it asked me to set my preferences again, I couldn't 'click' on anything again.

I'm thinking that an older version of Limewire will work fine... is there a place where I can download older versions?

[edit]

Well, I found an older Limewire version, but of course, it doesn't support the latest Java version, which is the one I have. I think its 1.5.0 or something

1.5 is that the LW version? A version that old will not only give you problems but may be blocked by many a person you attempt to connect to. Many of the protocols of design & use on the network community have changed since then which is why LW does not normally allow the older versions be available. This goes for almost all the Gnutella network programs. Some have in-built filters that will stop older versions connecting to them.

I'd have recommended uninstalling Java 1.5 & trying Java 1.4.2 instead. Sometimes Java 1.5 doesn't behave well on some people's systems. There's also a chance your 1.5 was corrupted due to being installed over the net. That's why installing from your comp is wiser.
