send to mail recipient

I click on library then explore, my downloaded music files open
in my shared folder, when I right click on a music file and tell it
to send to mail recipient it does it through outlook express but
when outlook express sends it, it sends it not as 1 file but in
multiples of 20 or 30 something files. I know it sends the complete
song in multiples because I send it to myself. outlook express
only does this with Lime Wire files, did this ever happen to
anyone, if so please help.

I presume, from what you said, that the file is not reassembled on receipt so the MP3 is unplayable.

I would suggest you do one of the following:

a) Instead of using “Send File” send the file as an attachment. Depending on how your ISPs policy, they may allow you to send attachments of 3 to 6MB.

b) Use Winzip or some other compression tool to zip your MP3s, you will not get any extra compression, i.e. making the file any smaller, but it will arrive at its destination intact.

Hope this helps.

Hi UK BOB

The mp3 file is playable and when I right click on the file it does
not give me the option to send as attachment just send to
mail recipient. it did send the file before as 1 message I don't
know what happened that it now say's sending 1 of 20 or 30
something messages when I am only sending 1 and it really
does send the multiple files.

MP3 Files

Rekab1

You must know that although these MP3s are in your LW library they are also in your windows explorer "share" folder, where they are just ordinary files.

In Outlook Express, goto "Insert" then "File Attachment" and browse your windows explorer, find your mp3 file, highlight it, then click "Attach". It is as simple as that.

To insure that you mp3 files arrive at their distination undamaged it might be an idea to zip your MP3s before sending them.

The files in my shared folder have the Windows Media Icon
in front of them and they are all playable. it's not a question of
them reaching the mail recipient undamaged they are being sent in multiple files instead of just 1 file, the file is not being split into
multiple files the file is being sent as if I told it to send 20 or 30 times.

Have you done a virus check of late? I'm not in the know about Outlook Express but was of the impression it was one of the more susceptible M$ programs to get virii. Perhaps I'm on the wrong track here but worthy to check anyway.

Outlook Express Configuration

OK Rekab1

It seems that I have misunderstood your problem, as LOTR has said it could be a virus infection but I have this nagging doubt that it may be a configuration problem instead.

First thing to do is run your virus checker, just to be sure.

I'm at work at the moment and will not be able to check my OE configuration until I get home.

I will get back to you then.

UK Bob

In the meantime, is this the only time that OE multiplies your e-mails by 20, i.e. with MP3s, or does it do it with all your e-mails that have attachments?

Check your mail rules, under Tools, to see how it is set up. It is possible that it got misconfigured, somehow, to send out additional copies to either the same or different recipients.

It doesen't do it with all files just the mp3 files I downloaded
from LimeWire.
