artist/album not working When i search for music nothing comes up in the artist or album box! It use to work and is just stopped working recently. Does anyone know how to fix this problem? Cheers |

Any other suggestions?? |
Depending on the id3tags users put on their files, sometimes these fields appear empty. I use version 2.3, and I know that 1.1 seems to work also, 2.2 does not seem to work correctly and a lot of users use that. It is also the default for iTunes which is a pain, but it is easy to convert your entire iTunes library in a fairly short time. (which does not help you I know!) Am I right in thinking you are getting a list of results in name column the main search page, but nothing in the Artist/album/title page. If so this is, as I have said, due to the way sharers are tagging their files and there is nothing that LW can do about it. I hope this answers your question, otherwise, we'll have to try again :) |
im not sure that that is it unfortunately. It use to work then i got a new harddrive and the guy that installed it for me put LM back on and it hasnt worked since then. I have tried searching stuff that i know use to come up with stuff in those boxes but they remain empty  |
I am not getting any results in the left hand boxes |
My inclination would be to delete the LW preferences folder. I gather that this cures many such problems but it's not something I have done myself. It may be worth a try. |
ok, where do i find the folder? |
Not exactly sure I was hoping you woud'nt ask that!:D On Mac it is /Users/your_username/Library/Preferences/LimeWire and on windows there is a file called .limewire in preferences I believe. Perhaps you should await confirmation on that. You must do the delete while Limewire is closed. |
i found the folder called .limewire but i cant find the folder u suggested to delete |
Mac OSX is a little different, .limewire is a file. Whereas on windows & mac os 9, it's a folder called .limewire so this folder is what you want to delete. The next time you open LW, it will create a fresh .limewire preferences folder. Sometimes the contents of this folder become corrupt or it just freshens up LW by deleting it. |
I deleted the .limewire folder but it still does not work!!! |
Do you get any search results to show up at all? Try an Any type search. If you keep the search criteria simple/general, you'll get more results. |
nah i get plenty of search results its just that nothing comes up in the boxes on the left hand side. i found it much better when stuff came up in the artist and album boxes |
1 Attachment(s) Under an Any type search, filter it. Under media, select Audio. Then you'll see the separations of artist & album. But why you're not having any success with an audio type search I'm not sure. Perhaps your searches are too specific. |
I deleted the whole .limewire folder and now it works a treat :D Cheers guys!!!! |
I only deleted the one folder. It didnt work so i just shutdown limewire and opened it back up and it worked!!:) |
