Question Instead of windows files I'm getting MP3 files

Hi, I have been using Limewire for a few weeks now and find it excellent and easy to use, when I first installed it I could download songs and play them on WMP and nearly every song had the WMP icon next to it but since I installed Winamp for another program, all the WMP songs(icons) changed to winamp files.

I didn't want winamp to play the songs so I deleted it but the files were still winamp so I deleted Limewire and installed it again a few days later but now the files/songs are MP3 icons. I have never changed WMP from being my default player and I don't know how to check if it is still default player. How can I get windows songs back to download?

Thanks in advance

BTW, I did look at other posts before I posted my question and couldn't find the answer to my problem so if I missed the answer anywhere I'm sorry.

Default Default Media Player

Neek77

One of the annoying problems with Windows is that when you install a new media player windows (or the player) assumes you want that player as your default.

Deleting LW was a mistake because that would not tell windows that you wanted WMP as your default player, you have to go into WMP and make the changes there.

Here is a screen print of my WMP settings, which you should copy, once set your WMP will now be your default player:

PS. You may have to reboot your PC.

Unhappy

I think my WMP is version 10 and it doesn't have any drop-down menus like that one.

Is there any other way I can find out? I used to use that one but this version I'm using now is harder to figure out.

Thanks heaps for your info, UKBOB!

I have WMP 10 also at home, but I have WMP 8 here at work, I guess that if you don't have a drop down menu either you are using the wrong skin, wrong "View" option or something else is wrong.

First, trying changing some of the options under "View", that usually works.

Thumbs up

I just found it!! A tiny little downward arrow next to (- [] x) on top right corner.

Now I'll go into Limewire and have a look.

Thanks again for all your help, really appreciated!!
