Similar Problem Hey everyone, I'm running on XP Pro, limewire ver 4.9.28 with J2SE update 4 and I have a gig of ram... but unfortuantly no antivirus software (I know I know I'm getting Norton soon). So the other night (recently after dl'ing J2SE ud 4) I tried to open limewire and the startup (loading) screen freezes, turns white, stops loading lime, and than my comp studders (mouse doesn't move smoothly). I was patient with it at first. I let it load for about 15 minutes and surprisingly limewire opened but than froze again. I have tried this several times with the same results. So in a nutshell...when I open limewire it kicks my comp in the balls. Can anyone help? -Mouze :D PS- I would like this problem to be solved w/o deleting my whole library. |
It sounds like you might have spyware running in the backround. You can try AdAware from Lavasoft.com or Spybot http://www.spybot.info/en/download/index.html if you want a couple of decent free anti-spyware progams. As far as antivirus, AVG has a free version at Grisoft.com. I find it's better than nortons just because it doesn't mess around with your registry and imbed itself all over your computer like Norton does. |
if that doesn't work, try reinstalling LW |
I already have adaware and spybot. So that should take care of my spyware probs. When I delete Limewire will that delete my whole shared folder, library, ect? Just got alot of files I dont feel like dl'ing again! :P |
I have this problem on and off as well. I'm running Limewire on Server 2003. Had a new problem appear where Lime wire runs fine, but I can't type text in any fields. Buzz. |
Heres my setup: Win XP Pro SP2 3gb of pc3200 P4 3.4Ghz HT MS anti spyware Ad Aware SE Pro 1.06 Norton AV Corp Ed. Spybot S&D eTrust Pest Patrol Shouldn't be having problems as far as resources/protection goes. Now Im having issues where when I click to open limewire...it cant be found. So I have to reinstall it every so often. I even tried rolling back versions, but it happens with each one. |
