Limewire Hard Rebooting XP

Okay guys ! Maybe you can help me here.

Ever since I upgraded my computer from an Intel P4 3.0 ghz ABIT AS7 mobo to a AMD Athlon 3800+ and ASUS AV8 mobo - and updating to the latest version of limewire after reinstalling windows.. limewire reboots my computer everytime i open it.

It will almost always reboot my computer when i try to download a song, but sometimes when I'm just searching, and even when I'm going through the firsttime configuration settings.

What happens is my monitor will suddenly go black. I will still be able to hear music or ventrilo in the background for a few seconds. Then suddenly my headphones will go crazy, like screeching or sounded staticy for 5 seconds. Then the computer will reboot totally by itself.

I dont have any viruses. I have tried it with and without programs runnin in the background. All my drivers are up to date. I've tried reinstalling and following the suggested fixes for general problems. Nothing works. LIMEWIRE IS THE ONLY PROGRAM THAT DOES THIS.

It didnt start happening until after I upgraded my computer. I was using an old verson on limewire before i upgraded, so i dont know if its just this new version or my computer.

AMD 3800+
ASUS AV8 Mobo
ATI 9800 Pro
SB Audigy 2
2 gigs RAM

Please don't double-post on the forum. I don't think there are too many forums that allow double-posting. See Forum Rules (click here)

Is it a BSD (Blue Screen of Death) you see before it restarts?
If yes then it's generally a hardware issue. A component you have isn't fully compatible with the others or a driver is out of date. Graphic cards are a common cause. Forum links that discuss BSD worth a look thru are these (click on links): 1. Link 1, 2. Link 2, 3. Link 3, 4. Link 4

If not a BSD, then it could be due to your computer over-heating.
LW simply acts as the catalyst to set it off, but the underlying problem is there & it could well be any program that sets it off. Someone had a similar issue recently, HERE (click on link)

Sorry , didnt kno where to post..

but yea.. its definitely not overheading. I watch the temperature and it doesn't go up at all when limewire is on.. my case has really good cooling.

And its not a BSOD either.. my monitor just turns off.

Any other ideas ? :(

Hi Adalie

What is happening is the drivers from Limewire are conflicting with drivers on the windows system somewhere, and to protect itself windows is rebooting
