What is the priority option?

Lord of the Rings September 12th, 2005 07:16 AM

Right-click the top of the downld window column & you'll see an option to show priority. Once that is listed, you can use it. You'll see arrows underneath the downld window where you can change the order of priority. This applies to inactive downlds such as those queued AFAIK. You can change which one comes 1st out of those queued.

hahaha version 4.9.29
See below. Initially get the priority column to show. Select the item that's queued, then press the arrow below to move its position in the queue. In this example I moved one down in the queue.

The "Priority" column was added almost a year ago (4.1.7 (10.22.2004)), so it's buried in the changelog.

Well I don't know ... I've just discovered it on 4.9.29 and I'm damn sure it was never there before. It's cool anyway. <happy hobo>

:)

every once in a while I control click everywhere to try and see what else has changed. I'm sure I've missed a few anyways. I never get time to run through all the menus before the next version is out :)

I do that ... make sure all the extended tool tips are telling me what's going on and stuff, and we had a good oportunity with the last version that lasted .... about 2 weeks my researcher tells me :) :D

Fast Way to Change Priority

I know about how to view the Priority column. Is there a fast way to make an item that is 200th on the list change to 1st on the list? I don't like clicking the keyboard 199 times to push it up to the current download.

Thanks.

Try searching the file again. Then once found, stop it from the downld window & reselect from the search results. Another is to use the extra search options in the right-click menu options as shown below. Find more sources for the files will at least give it a better opportunity of downlding & downlding without hesitating once it starts.

Lord of the Rings January 28th, 2006 01:18 AM

Sorry I was wrong, it doesn't change the priority order ... well it does, it puts it at the bottom of the list if it's queued after you have reselected it from the downld results. Oh well. Best I could think of would be to Pause the others if it's really more important. You can pause queued files.
But searching for more sources can also jump it into actively downlding "sometimes". But remember, QUEUED means LW is too busy to handle the file. So after opening LW, let it settle before adding to the queue because all incomplete files will start as being queued when you 1st open LW. Also not downlding too many files at one time will also help prevent files queuing.
